The EU is undergoing one of its most significant regulatory transformations in decades: the Standardisation Regulation, the New Legislative Framework, and the Market Surveillance Regulation are all being revised simultaneously, paving the way for a consolidated EU Product Act expected in autumn 2026. The rules governing how products are designed, standardised, and brought to market across the Single Market are about to change and small businesses need a seat at the table.

SBS Stakeholder Reception is where that conversation happens. It brings together EU policymakers, industry leaders, standards bodies, and SME representatives for meaningful dialogue at exactly the right moment.

We are proud to welcome you to the premises of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) where President Séamus Boland will do us the honour of delivering the opening remarks, reflecting the EESC’s active engagement on the revision of the Standardisation Regulation and its commitment to ensuring civil society voices are heard in this landmark legislative process. The programme will then feature a high-level panel discussion on the future of EU standardisation and its impact on SMEs, with the participation of Valère MOUTARLIER, Deputy Director General at DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs (DG GROW) of the European Commission, and Iuliu WINKLER, Vice-Chair of the Committee on International Trade (INTA) at the European Parliament.
