On 31 January, SBS submitted its reply to the Call for Evidence launched by the European Commission on the upcoming Commission Single Market Strategy, scheduled to be published in June 2025.
In its reply, SBS highlighted the crucial role of standards in helping SMEs complying with legal requirements, access new markets and grow. SBS also remarked the importance of creating horizontal, interoperable markets that allow SMEs to gain economic opportunities at all stages of supply chains and of the life cycle of products, as well as calling for a stronger role of open standards in public procurement.
Finally, SBS reiterated the crucial importance of a robust funding of all areas of the European standardisation system, with a specific focus on measures to support the access and effective participation of SMEs to the drafting of standards.
