The 3rd meeting of the High-Level Forum on European Standardisation, chaired by Stéphane Séjourné, was recently held. SBS actively participated in this important gathering, where key discussions focused on the pivotal role of standards in enhancing the competitiveness of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and fostering a thriving Single Market.
President Gunilla Almgren emphasised the crucial role of standards and highlighted the following key aspects:
🔹 Standards are vital for SME competitiveness and the Single Market.
🔹 Inclusivity at the national level is crucial, with National Standards Bodies (NSBs) playing a key role in providing access to European and international standardisation.
🔹 Awareness of NSBs and Member States support for SMEs needs to be raised.
🔹 Harmonised access conditions and stronger financial support are essential.
🔹 A commitment from standards bodies, Member States and other stakeholders and continued HLF mandate beyond 2025 are vital for progress.
